STEYR Traktoren is backing the Initiative Group of Forestry Cooperatives (IK) of AGDW – Die Waldeigentümer in promoting environmental awareness among young people in Westallgäu, Germany, supporting AGDW’s ‘Wald Klima-Klasse’ (Forest-Climate-Class).
Wald Klima-Klasse provides students from the fifth grade upwards with hands-on ecology and sustainable forest management education. Under the guidance of forestry professionals, they are able to plant and nurture their own ‘climate forest’. A national roll-out will see ‘green classrooms’ teach the importance of maintaining natural resources, and of intergenerational responsibility in protecting them.
Andreas Täger, spokesman of the Initiative Group of Forestry Cooperatives (IK) of AGDW – Die Waldeigentümer and Managing Director of Waldbesitzervereinigung Westallgäu e.V. (the regional forestry association), says: “In this way, students get the opportunity to make a difference and contribute to a green future in their local area. Our shared goal is to show children how to actively shape the climate forest of tomorrow, promoting environmental awareness among young people and providing practical experience of the importance of sustainable forestry and intergenerational responsibility.”
Peter-Philipp Hampel, Head of STEYR Operations Europe, says STEYR® is proud to play a part in connecting children with forests and the climate around them. “As a manufacturer of innovative tractors built for forestry, our communication and administration will assist in raising awareness of forests and forestry machines, helping highlight the value of regional resources and future-focused forest management.”
Empowering the next generation of environmental stewards matches the aims of STEYR Traktoren, explains Daniela Ropolo, Head of Sustainable Development Initiatives EMEA at CNH. "This project will show how collaboration among industry, local communities, and regions can build on shared values while advancing environmental sustainability. This reflects CNH’s sustainability approach, emphasizing community engagement, education, and youth as crucial drivers for long-term environmental stewardship."
